Using Explore tool 28/7/2020
Today while working with some students, I had the opportunity to show them how to use the explorer button We found information and added images to their English assignment "Hidden Figures."
Sunday 26/7/2020
My initial feelings on my first DFI, caused me to feel anxious and overwhelmed. I was concerned about what I hadn't picked up instead of focusing on what I had. After reflection time over the weekend, I realised I had learned the following:
- Finding my drive and feeling more comfortable and confident searching around My Drive (although I still need to Marie Kondo it!!)
- Learned to make a "copy file" "Rename" and send it to my LBDFI Sandpit file in my drive (from an original file given to me to work from)
- Using the Explore tool at the bottom of google doc (asking questions by searching the web for info/ clip art and images.
- How to use bullet points
- Change texts to colour/fonts/text type and size
- How to copy and paste images and resizing
- Insert -Table with columns and rows
- Align work to be left/right or center of the page
- Changing a page from portrait to landscape and making the entire page yellow
- How to create a poster using tables
- How to use voice typing

LB Day 1 DFI 24/7/2020
I decided to have a play on one of the tools I learned in DFI today. This is very basic..BUT I managed to do this on my own!!
DFI Week 1
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional
I learned to create a poster in google docs by inserting tables, selecting page size,
margin sizes, and page colours. I also used the explore button to search for pictures and clip art (free images), explore also cites references.
What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
I liked the idea of putting your own initials at the start of your new doc before the heading (makes it easier to search by initials). I would also use voice typing to help students practice their reading skills and then go through and learn to proofread their work.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability, or workflow in my personal life?
I learned to have more confidence in myself and to just take a minute to breathe!!- At the start, I was very apprehensive and felt I was holding our bubble group up by asking so many questions. Vicki was very calming and understood that I am a total beginner at using Google.
My first session in DFI had its issues due to problems with my chrome book and poor internet connection, this was frustrating for me as I could hear Dorothy talking but could not see her online sharing as my screen froze for long periods of time. I had a lot of help from Ange (teacher at Grey High) and Vicki my facilitator who showed a lot of patience and understanding. Even though today was daunting, my goal is to see this course through to the end knowing that this will be a huge benefit to me so that I can then share what I have learned with our amazing students at Grey High.
The main thing I learned today was how to create a google doc and then taking a screenshot so then I was able to post this on my blog!..so I'm stoked as!!
