Devices
Another very full on learning day, but interesting too, as I got to experience first hand (not the first time mind you!!) the frustrations of using a new device - part of today's lesson was on an Ipad. With this frustration came an understanding of what some of our learners might feel at times, especially at the moment with DGE's on
Hapara Hot Tip- Teacher Dashboard
This gives the teacher clear visibility of what students are doing
We also learned that if there was an incident where a student might have been nasty to another student but thought they could delete the evidence the teacher can access deleted items and reinstate if necessary, this can then be displayed on tv so students learn that when you share an organisation email - the teachers / management can also see the emails.
External Sharing - shows if the student has shared a document with a person outside of organisation.
I really enjoyed listening to Dorothy speak about what we might see when we first walk into a school, what posters/displays do we see? Do they focus on the positives. Displaying positive, helpful ,caring, kind posters send messages to our learners that this is the way forward (don't focus on negative)
Cybersmart = Be kind, positive, helpful and thoughtful
Todays focus was about -
- Smart Learners (Learn)
- Smart Footprint (Create)
- Smart Relationships (share)
Teach from an early age the importance of being cybersmart-We want our students to recognise when something is not right and to know what to do about it, also knowng what personal information you can and cannot share
We also learned the importantance of 1:1 (meaning 1 device to 1 learner) this is all about our learners being equal and teaches independence and ownership.
Today we had a day of learning some more Chromebook skills using digital dig. This was a great chance to test what I have learned throughout the last few weeks plus more!
Then we got to experiment what it is like to use an iPad, using Explain Everything - below is my whiteboard, we had to write our name, create an iPad, and use voice recording.
